Fire Pits, Fire Tables, and Full Fireplaces — Built for the Sacramento Area
Sacramento Fire Features
An outdoor fireplace or fire pit in Sacramento runs $5,000 to $25,000+, depending on whether you want a simple fire pit, a fire table, or a full fireplace. Stuteville Landscaping builds fire features across the Sacramento area with three generations of landscape construction expertise, a C-27 license, 70+ five-star reviews, and a free estimate on every project.
Below: what we build, why we recommend gas, how permits and BTU sizing work, and how a fire feature ties into your yard.
What We Build
We build the full range: fire pit construction, fire tables, and full outdoor fireplaces — custom masonry from scratch or a pre-fabricated unit install. Fire pits and fire tables are the most popular — they fit more budgets and more yards.
The most popular. Gas or wood, built into a patio or seating area. Drops into an existing space without rebuilding the yard.
Also a top seller. Lower profile, doubles as a surface, and integrates cleanly with seating.
The bigger project: a vertical masonry feature with a larger footprint and a dedicated gas line. Built as full custom masonry from scratch or a pre-fabricated unit install, depending on the job.
Gas vs. Wood-Burning
Ask us gas or wood, and the answer is fast. "Gas 100%. Sacramento is in the talks about restricting wood-burning fire pits due to wildfires." Wood-burning is the only setup where Spare the Air and fire-restriction days affect you — a gas fire feature sidesteps that entirely.
Gas also means instant on, instant off, no smoke. A gas outdoor fireplace beats burning logs for a feature you use often. We build a wood-burning outdoor fireplace too — we just steer you toward gas.
Real Ranges
A fire pit and a full fireplace are different builds, so outdoor fireplace design and pricing cover a wide range. Here's what we quote, as of May 2026.
| Fire Feature | What's Involved | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Fire pit | Gas or wood, built into a patio or seating area | $5,000 – $12,000 |
| Fire table | Lower profile, doubles as a surface | $6,000 – $15,000 |
| Full outdoor fireplace | Vertical masonry feature, larger footprint and gas line | $15,000 – $25,000+ |
The Part Most Contractors Skip
Here's the rule in Sacramento: gas lines require permits, the fire pit itself usually doesn't. We pull the permit for the gas line installation and handle the inspection. That covers building code compliance, the gas shutoff valve, and the pressure check.
The detail that separates a real install from a weekend job is BTU sizing. "We want to ensure that the fireplace has enough BTU to support the flame. We don't want the client to install a fire pit and have a baby flame come out of it." An undersized gas line gives you a sad little flicker. We size the line to the feature.
Built to Last
Fire features get built from masonry, brick, natural stone or stone veneer, tile, or a stucco finish — on concrete footings, with fire-rated materials where the design calls for it. Which one comes down to the look and your budget. The material wraps the structure. The gas and BTU work underneath is what makes it perform.
Part of Your Outdoor Build
Most of our fireplace work happens as part of a larger outdoor living build, not as a standalone visit. When we're designing or remodeling your space, that scope can include the firebox, mantel, brick facing, stone or tile surround, and heat shielding where the design calls for it.
On an existing fireplace, we can reface it to update the look, replace an old unit, or take on limited repairs — handled as part of the project, depending on scope and condition. We don't offer standalone chimney builds, combustion venting, fireplace maintenance, or chimney cleaning.
Designed Into the Yard
A fire feature works best planned with the rest of the yard. "This is where we integrate the design aspect to utilize the client's space to get the maximum ROI." We place it where it anchors a seating wall, sits beside a paver patio, tucks under a pergola, or extends an outdoor kitchen within a full backyard design. One connected outdoor living space.
